Sir Nicholas Winton is a humanitarian who organized a rescue operation that saved the lives of 669 Jewish Czechoslovakia children from Nazi death camps, and brought them to the safety of Great Britain between the years 1938-1939.

After the war, his efforts remained unknown. But in 1988, Winton’s wife Grete found the scrapbook from 1939 with the complete list of children’s names and photos. Sir Nicholas Winton is sitting in an audience of Jewish Czechoslovakian people who he saved 50 years before.

I’ve seen this so many times and it makes me tear up every time. This man’s the true definition of hero.

There are some great photographs that made history, others brought history to us:

Did you know that in 1913 it was legal to mail children? Or that ladies had special houses in the sea for their baths? That the structure built by Eiffel to support the Statue of Liberty was similar to the Eiffel tower? Check out more… you even have the first arrival of bananas in Norway! and the last public execution by guillotine in Paris…

Film process:

Finally made the switch to Davinci Resolve and taught myself how to use it. It’s really like most photography editing software, but using nodes instead of layers. Really not too complicated, picked it up in a matter of a day. The best feature of resolve is to mask and change colors using keyframes. I could do this with After Effects, but the realtime processing isn’t as good as Davinci. I still used After Effects to create some transitions in the video.

Still need to get better with Davinci as I do for every other program, but it’s a step towards the right direction.

Shot on 5D MKIII with 50mm 1.4 Canon Lens

Used Lanparte Rig with Counter balance
